The Crossing Data Technologies team attended the two-day Gartner Data and Analytics symposium in Frankfurt, held between 19 -20 November. There were some excellent data strategy presentations from senior Gartner analysts covering a wide range of data strategy, data governance and customer experience (CX) topics.
It was clear from the presentations that firms across all industries have made significant progress and investment in their journeys to become data centric. The gap between the target state and the Gartner vision still remains significant albeit achievable for most organisations to attain.
Having said that, the rate at which companies have moved to change their organisation to take full advantage of their data assets, has been very pleasing to witness with most leading organisations appointing chief data officers (CDO) to senior positions in management.
With several organisations augmenting the role of the CDO to work alongside the chief innovation officer (CIO) and a chief data scientist (CDS), who are responsible for leading data analytic programmes across the organisation, they are then taking full advantage of artificial intelligence and machine learning driven initiatives.
Our CIO gave a keynote presentation on the topic of customer experience, big data architectures that are enabled by the latest cloud technologies, data governance and artificial intelligence and machine learning.
